Fall 2023 Fashion Trends

August is officially here which means that despite being mid Summer, New Fall arrivals will be beginning to flow into stores as you read this. A new upcoming season is always an exciting time to refresh your look, and while i’m a big believer in promoting personal style and not being a slave to trends, being aware of what’s happening in the fashion world each season is a great place to start.

Here is 9 of the latest trends that will soon be seeing trickle into stores.

The Colour Red

Red is coming in HOT for Fall 2023. The colour of Passion and Energy, Red draws attention like no other and radiates a strong and powerful energy.

Find the Red that works for you and your colouring ( whether warm or cool), and if you like the idea of Red, but are too intimidated to wear it in your clothes, consider adding pops of Red to your outfit through accessories ( a great pair of shoes or handbag).

The Power Shoulder

Another bold and powerful trend is the return of the strong shoulder. A style statement that has cycled throughout history, is about empowering women to take up space, to be front and centre…It’s as much a political statement as it is a fashion statement.

Ready To Wear

This season there was a welcome wearability seen to many of the outfits seen on the catwalk. A focus on comfortable and classic dressing, timeless pieces - a sort of anti-trend. The types of clothes one would wear in their real everyday lives.

Peplum

Peplum is a silhouette many were not expecting to see come back so soon, but as with every cyclical trend, it always comes back with an updated modern take. This time around it’s a little softer, more of a play on the hourglass proportions…and as with all trends, take part if it speaks to you, skip it if it doesn’t.

The LBC - Long Black Coat

This season’s coat trend is what most consider to be a classic outerwear staple, and thats the Long Black Coat, which also ties in to the Ready to Wear anti-trend right now, timeless wearable pieces.

Keep in mind that although considered a classic piece, if Black is not your best colour, you can get the same classic look with a colour that is more flattering to you. A Navy, dark Chocolate brown, Camel or Grey could be equally beautiful depending on your personal colouring.

Butter Yellow

Another colour having a major moment this Fall is Yellow, Butter Yellow in particular, which is known to be a cheerful and optimistic colour, symbolizing hope.

Checkered

Plaid Checkered patterns were noticeably on repeat on the runways for Fall 2023 from jackets and blazers to full matching sets. This print is making a comeback this season.

Maxi Dresses

Longer hemlines also graced the runways, and are an extremely wearable way to wear dresses in the Fall as temperatures dip, allowing for the ease of one and done dressing.

Metallics

Metallics were a trend for Spring that we will be seeing more of for Fall/ Winter 2023, proving that while quiet luxury has been the recent trend, sometimes we need a “Look at me” moment.
