Spring 2023 Trends
Is there anything more exciting than a new fashion season?
While I’m not a big believer of simply following trends for the sake of being trendy. I am a big believer that knowledge is power, fashion is meant to be fun, and a way to express our ever evolving selves, and it’s important to know what is going on, so you can stay current in a way that feels true to you!
Here are some of the biggest fashion trends coming our way this Spring 2023 season.
Utility
Cargo details are continuing to have a moment, and the trend is moving beyond pants you have seen past seasons. If the cargo trend seems a little harsh for your taste, you will be happy to see many refined elevated versions of the trend hitting stores this season, making it much more wearable.
Sheer
From Sheet tops to dresses, there is a lightness we are bringing with us into Spring. While this trend may not be for the faint of heart, there is certainly ways to incorporate it without baring all.
Denim
Canadian tuxedo anyone? Denim is being worn as full outfits, head to toe. Another popular comeback trend is the denim maxi skirt. We are seeing more variety in shapes of jeans this season, but with a more relaxed denim shape leading the pack.
Colour
From Fresh Lilac, and Lime to Cobalt Blue, Barbie-core pink - These will be the hottest colours of the season, and a vibrant way to welcome Spring. Colour is said to have an effect on our moods and these colours are sure to be the perfect pick me up after a dull Winter season.
Metal
The heavy metal look is moving beyond our jewelry and into our clothing and accessories. Often seen trending towards the holidays, metallics for Spring are a fresh take on the trend. Perhaps after years of casual dressing, we are ready to up the ante.
For those that love a metallic but aren’t quite comfortable rocking a pair of metallic pants, adding a metallic shoe or purse is a great way to indulge the trend.
Rosettes
Channeling our inner Carrie Bradshaw. Rosette detailing seems to be about to have a moment, and of course what would feel more spring appropriate than to adorn ourselves in flowers.
As with all trends, take it or leave it. The Runway shows and images are here to serve as inspiration, to know what’s current and coming up in the fashion world. These looks and trends will trickle down into stores and on to the streets before you know it.
If a trend speaks to you, have a look through your wardrobe and see if you can create the look with what you already have. If you want to purchase something new, make sure you can pair it back to at least 3 things in your wardrobe, so that you know you will be able to create outfits with it, to avoid the piece sitting and rotting in your closet.
